In most states, schools have closed their doors, placing the responsibility of childcare and education on parents and caretakers at home.
While it doesn’t replace school completely, online learning can help supplement your child’s learning during this time. Below are resources and organizations tackling this for all ages.
For Children (ages 2-14)
- PBS resources — PBS Kids online resources for children ages 2-8
- Frozen’s Olaf — the voice of Olaf (played by Josh Gad) narrating books, posted on his twitter feed
- Apple’s Education Team — known for their focus on children and early childhood learning, Apple compiled a list of 1-activity-a-day exercises, for 30 days, to help keep kids busy and learning
- Stanford School of Education — Stanford’s Graduate School of Education’s content hub to support stay-at-home learning
- National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) — take a look at the sections “Resources to Support Children’s Learning” and “Math Resources”
- For Special Needs Kids — Easterseal’s list of online resources for special-needs children
- Free Kids Audiobooks — Audible has made 100s of Children’s audiobooks available for free
For Young Adults (ages 15-22)
Coursera
- Coursera is one of the world’s largest online learning platforms. 190+ universities and companies have uploaded their learning curriculum for students everywhere to learn. They’ve made several courses free-of-charge in light of Covid-19.
